NEW: Le Mans Legend – Jaguar C-Type
The Jaguar C-Type is an iconic racing car from the 1950s, built for speed and fierce competition. This particular car finished in the top ten at the 1953 Le Mans race, Jaguar’s most successful year at the event. It is now on display at the Louwman Museum, generously loaned by The Loh Collection.
Officially known as the Jaguar XK120-C, the C-Type was produced by Jaguar between 1951 and 1953. The “C” stands for “Competition”. Combining the proven chassis of the XK120 with a lightweight tubular frame and an aerodynamic aluminium body, Jaguar created a racing legend. Only 53 examples were ever built. Today, this car remains one of the most authentic surviving sports cars from the era of 1950s endurance racing.
This particular C-Type is much more than just another Le Mans participant. In 1953, it achieved an impressive top-ten finish in the same race where Jaguar’s factory cars famously secured first, second, fourth, and ninth positions—marking the greatest Le Mans triumph for the Jaguar C-Type.
