McLaren World Champion – the legacy of Bruce McLaren
It’s official: McLaren is the new Formula 1 Constructors’ Champion. By winning the 2025 title, the team once again proves that the vision of its founder, Bruce McLaren, is very much alive.
Bruce McLaren was not only a fast driver but also an innovator determined to build his own team. His drive for progress led in the 1960s to the legendary M8 series in the Can-Am races. Together with teammate Denny Hulme, McLaren dominated the championship with 31 victories in four seasons.
At the Louwman Museum, you can see the ultimate version of that series: the McLaren Can-Am M8F. With its fierce 8.1-litre Chevrolet V8 producing nearly 750 horsepower and sharp aerodynamic design, it stands as a tangible icon of Bruce McLaren’s legacy.
Today’s world championship underlines how his pioneering spirit and technical boldness still form the foundation of McLaren’s success.
