Essolube
Lithography on paper
Jean Walther was an international illustrator, graphic artist and draughtsman, but the full scope of his work was unknown until recently, when a large archive was discovered in his native Swiss city of Morges.
Walther worked for Alliance Graphique and with A.M. Cassandre in Paris. He worked as a designer for the Royal Dutch Steam Company in Holland and designed this recognizable Cubist mascot for the Esso Oil Company in America.
This iconic image has an understandable message, regardless of the language of the text: Esso Oil works wonders for your car in the freezing winter
