Diatto
Lithography on paper
Diatto was an Italian company founded in 1835 by Guglielmo Diatto in Turin. The company started producing wheels for carts and wagons, and expanded into building omnibuses, trams and railway wagons. By 1905 they also started producing Diatto automobiles.
Stanley Charles Rowles, who often signed his work as H.L. Roowy, was a British artist. Here Roowy has captured the sentiment of Diatto’s innovative designs. An aged astronomer is studying the skies and to his great surprise he sees a shooting star, or rather a shooting Diatto making its way to earth, and the birth of a new Diatto star.
