Cycles et Autos Turenne
Lithography on paper
E. Celos was a painter and illustrator. He designed several automobile and bicycle posters at the turn of the century. Celos frequently added Art Nouveau touches to his designs and had a cartoonish charm in his work.
The automobile is a modern mode of transport that will take you beyond the well-trodden path and into nature. The girl and her somewhat angry geese look on in amazement at this new invasion of their countryside. Turenne is in the South of France and the poster is quite clearly promoting the freedom an automobile has to offer.
